Cowboy songs, country dance tunes, harmony duets, jugband music, the blues: these are the musical art forms of working men and women, from the city to the countryside. Daniel Mark Epstein, Howard Sacks, and Judy Sacks are accomplished singers and pickers who have shared their music widely, in Knox County and even across the globe. On guitar, mandolin, and ukulele and with inspired vocals, they will take the audience on a journey through America’s rich folk-music landscape.

CGEmD is an American Country Music Band from Gambier, Ohio consisting of Chris Gantt and Emily (Durbin) Remillard. While normally configured as a guitar playing/singing duet, it's an absolute party when CGEmD teams up with talented local musicians from surrounding Knox County to form a three, four, or five piece band. Fiddles, drums, lead guitar, and mandolins find their way on stages with CGEmD to perform a variety of songs from classic rock, to country, to their very own originals. No matter what configuration you find them in on stage, CGEmD is sure to delight your ears with a heartfelt and warm sound as they enjoy performing for you.

Sarah grew up with music. Her father played the bassoon and her mother played the cello and string bass, and she fell in love with the folk music of the sixties and the Beatles. Based on her knowledge of the violin, she taught herself to play guitar and learned songs by listening to records. A professional microbiologist, songwriting is as much of a passion as singing. Several songs have received awards, been arranged for choirs and orchestrated as instrumentals.

Stevie Eyer is a keyboardist, singer, arranger from Central Ohio. He has been influenced by some of the world’s most incredible music of our time while living in and around cities like Philadelphia, Cleveland, New York, Toledo, and Detroit. Stevie started playing piano at age 6 and took up percussion at age 10. He performed in numerous orchestra, band, and musical theater productions throughout his school years. Stevie began performing solo and with other musicians at age 16, and has been privileged to record and perform with professional and semi-professional musicians throughout his career in music. In 2019, Stevie relocated to Central Ohio where he continues to perform regularly as a Solo Artist and is involved with other musical projects, including The O'Mulligans (a Rockin’ Blues band), Hall & Eyer (a duo with multi-instrumentalist Ricky Gene Hall), and a Patsy Cline Tribute band (Nellie Six Productions).

Singer-songwriter Vernon Schubel has been playing live music ever since forming his first band a few weeks after seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. In the 70s and 80s he played both as a solo artıst and in numerous bands in Oklahoma, Virginia and Michigan where he opened for musicians as diverse as Bob Seger, Ravi Shankar and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. In 1989, he moved to Knox County in Ohio, where he has performed both as a soloist and in bands, including TJ Lewis and the Bluestones. Schubel, who also performs as These Things Too, a rotating musical collective which includes his son Mehmet Ali, who plays drums and guitar, and other local artists, plays a diverse variety of music designed to appeal to multiple generations. Accompanying himself on claw hammer and finger-style guitar, his live sets include “Boomer” classics by artists like Neil Young, John Lennon, Leonard Cohen, Pink Floyd and, especially, Bob Dylan; modern and contemporary “Indie” music including songs by Big Thief, Lucy Dacus, AJJ, the Mountain Goats and Neutral Milk Hotel; and his own original material rooted in classic 60s folk and rock.
The Resilient w/ Six Miles to Nellie
Rock band “The Resilient,” primarily composed of severely wounded U.S. combat veterans, will play in concert on
Sunday, July 20, at 2 p.m. at The Woodward Opera House, 107 South Main Street, in Mount Vernon, with an opening set by Six Miles to Nellie.
Tickets are just $20 and are available at www.mvac.org and www.thewoodward.org

Court 'n' Jester featuring Brad Oviatt
Court n' Jester is the performing duo of Courtney DeCosky and Jeff Williams. Both are the founding members of the Americana band Six Miles to Nellie and operate Nellie Six Productions; a small company that supports local artists and promotes community arts events and collaborations. Courtney and Jeff have been partners in life, love, songwriting and all things creative for a decade and share a love and respect for the universal language and energy that comes from sharing music.
Joining is special Jester and fiddler extraordinaire Brad Oviatt. Classically trained and winner of countless national fiddle contests, he has recorded and performed in 48 states and internationally. His true passion remains teaching fiddle, violin and vocal harmony. Brad is currently retired and freelances with a number of bands and musicians in all genres including musical theatre.
