Nellie’s Open Mic Nights are free community arts events open to the public. Events run on the 2nd and 4th Thursday through a Spring (April - June) and Fall (September - November) calendar each year. Special event adjustments may sometimes apply. See the Event Calendar on this website for specific calendar dates and event details. Sign-ups start at 5:30pm. Music starts at 6pm!
Bring your song, poem, comedy or other form of creativity and fun to the stage! Whether sharing your talent with the crowd or checking out what the good people are cooking up, open mics are the perfect place to find inspiration, connection and support.
Nellie’s Open Mic partners with community organizations to help bring you unique, fun and collaborative events. Don’t miss the annual Witches Night Out in partnership with Experience Mount Vernon and The Downtown Merchants. Stay tuned for other community event partnerships!
Our Open Mics are hosted at Happy Street Bruwerks at 209 South Gay St. in downtown, Mount Vernon, OH. Providing a warm and groovy atmosphere, and offering tasty craft beers and beverages, along with indoor and outdoor staging options, Happy Street is the perfect location for community music and arts where friends and family gather. Food trucks are usually on site. Take out from the many downtown food options is also welcomed.
Featured Artist - each Open Mic event features a local or regional artist who shares an extended set showcasing their unique sounds, performance energy and often original music!
Community Sponsors - each Open Mic is sponsored by a local small business who supports the ongoing music scene. With this small investment, sponsors receive advertising leading up to their event, and the opportunity to showcase their services and products. Sponsorship dollars go directly to the evenings’ featured artists!
